Jóvenes del tango
We
want to provide an open and attractive tango atmosphere for young tango
dancers, in order to promote and maintain the tango culture in the
Netherlands.
We need the established "clientele" to learn from and to cooperate with in harmony.
Los Jóvenes del Tango is a non-beneficiary organization run by a group of young tango dancers in Amsterdam.
Background
Los Jóvenes del Tango was created by a small group of tango friends
that saw there was a distance between the new young dancers and the
established clientele of the milongas in Amsterdam. This led to an
increasing number of young dancers that unfortunately have left the
tango and started looking for a different dance...
In
order to harmonize and sustain tango culture in the long run they came
up with the idea of meetings for young dancers and musicians to meet,
eat and experiment. From 2004 to 2007 we had our own milonga, the "Salon de los Jóvenes" which took
place every 3rd Saturday of the month in the Academia de Tango in
Amsterdam. It seeks to invite young dancers to the milonga and to
integrate with the tango cultures and values as they are today in the
Amsterdam tango nightlife.
Objectives for 2008
In 2008 the Jóvenes del tango strive to actively involve new
members to the Jóvenes del Tango. We seek to become more transparent in
everything we do. We are looking forward to broaden our horizons, in
order to gain more awareness in other parts of the Netherlands and the world.
